Change the "Energy management" settings at your laptop
- Energy management tends to weaken the signal, so ensure that the maximum performance option is selected. Please go to "Control panel" and click on "Energy management".
Switch off start up programms
- Programs that start up in the background can be switched off by means of the 'MSCONFIG' command. Run this command by clicking the ‘Start’ button, clicking ‘run’ and then typing 'MSCONFIG'. Under the ‘Start up’ tab you can then check or uncheck the programs. For example MSN Messenger and various virus- and software updates.
Do you make use of Windows Vista or Windows 7?

After obtaining a connection, specify in Windows Vista that this is a public network. Vista will then restrict the network usage of the Windows components.
Windows Vista allows you to choose between a number of networks. For example, "home", "in the park" or a "public network". It is important that you select the option "public network". This will prevent files from being shared with other people in the compound. This is mostly no problem at home, but in the mission area it wastes valuable bandwidth..

Switch IPv6 off!
In the screen "Network Connections", go to your LAN or Wireless connection, click with your right mouse button and choose "Properties".
The screen "Properties for netwerk connection" opens.
Is the box in the centre (called IPv6) switched on?
For Windows 7;
If yes; click the box and then click on "Delete".
For Windows Vista:
If yes; Delete the checkbox by clicking the box.
Sending e-mail by Outlook (Express)
- SkyXS offers the possibility to send e-mail by Outlook as an extra service. Not all Internet providers support sending e-mail traffic via the network of a different provider (SMTP). Some providers will accept this if the username and password are also sent. This can be modified in the account settings of your e-mail program.
If this does not work, you could try changing the server for outgoing mail to SMTP.SKYXS.NET.
As an alternative, you can also use the webmail of your Internet provider to read and send messages (via the Internet browser). Check your Internet provider’s website to see exactly how to do this.
Yet another alternative is to use a Google mail account (Gmail). These e-mail accounts support POP and SMTP and can be sent and retrieved via Outlook Express.
